A few months ago, my mother gave me a bin bag full of odd balls of yarn which she didn’t want. She tends to knit in bright colours which are not my thing at all, and she doesn’t always use wool – often acrylics or acrylic mixes. Luckily there wasn’t anything too scarily bright in the bag (probably why she gave them to me!), but there’s an awful lot of yarn that I wouldn’t have chosen for myself.
So I needed a project to use up some of the yarn, and what better than a bag? There were several balls of brown and cream yarn, so I used some of those. I used plastic circular needles that I got free with a knitting magazine (not exactly high quality, but did the job) – I’d never knitted on circular needles before, and it took a little while to get used to.
The bag and its handles are done – all I need to do now is buy some material and line it, and put on a button. It’s not the prettiest thing in the world, but it will do as a knitting bag. Maybe in time for Christmas…
